Additional upgrades such as painted finishes, integrated lighting, or alternative railing styles are not available in this collection.

    ICON Elevated

Available in three models—Classic, Lofted, and Stackable—the Elevated Collection allows you to choose from six wood finishes or a painted finish, add integrated lighting, select different railing and ladder styles, upgrade to stairs, and more. It’s designed for those who want both elevated style and personalized functionality. The Elevated collection would be the best for designing a full bunk room.

  • ICON Bunks are easily assembled by a handyman, carpenter or homeowner. Each bunk bed comes with a detailed assembly manual and all the tools you will need. Since these are solid wood, some pieces can be heavy so we recommend 2 people. You can estimate that it will take 2 adults about 2 hours to assemble an ICON Bunk.

Product and Customization FAQ’s

  • At ICON Bunks, we know every home is different. So why should all bunk beds be the same? We are proud to offer a line of freestanding, fully customizable bunk beds. Here’s what you can customize:

    • Finish Color: You can choose from 9 stained finishes (6 White Oak, 3 Ash), or any Ben Moore or Sherwin William paint color.

    • Ladder Location: You can pick from multiple ladder locations to find the location that works best with your room.

    • Safety Railing Style: You can choose from metal or wood safety railings.

    • Ladder Style: You can customize your ladder - choose from a metal ladder, wood ladder or stairs with drawers.

    • Bed Sizes: We offer multiple bed sizes. From Twin sized bunk beds all the way up to King sized bunk beds. The bed sizes and dimensions of all pieces are set which allows us to produce these bunk beds with fast lead times.

Additional Customizations: Add lights, paneling, canopy style top bunks and more!

  • When selecting a mattress, please use a mattress that is 10” thick or less. This is to ensure the safety rails are tall enough to meet US Consumer Safety Standards. ICON has partnered with a USA based mattress manufacturer to offer ICON Mattresses. Similar to ICON Bunks, they are made to order just for you. You can find them in ICON Accessories.

  • Our ICON Stairs feature functional drawers in every stair tread. So there are 7 drawers total. Each drawer features soft close glides. We plan to offer drawers under the bed very soon, but until we launch that on our website please contact us for a custom quote.

  • Yes! We offer bunk beds from Twin size all the way to King size so you can pick the size that fits best in your room. Full dimensions can be found under Resources.

  • ICON Bunks were designed to work with 8’ ceilings or taller. If you have an 8’ ceiling and you use an 8” mattress on the top bunk you’d have 30.75” of headspace.

*Tip: To increase that headspace, get a thinner mattress for the top bunk.

The tallest point of an ICON Standard or Elevated Bunk is 76.75”. We have detailed drawings and dimensions available here.

  • Bottom bunks - when used with a 10” thick mattress, you will have 42.25” of head space for the bottom bunk. If you use a thicker mattress, deduct that increased thickness from 42.25”.

Top bunks - Must use a 10” thick mattress or less. When using a 10” mattress, to find your top bunk headspace, take your ceiling height in inches and subtract 67.25”.

For a visual of this question, go to Dimensions and Specs and download the spec sheet for the model you are purchasing. There is a detailed picture showing these dimensions with more info.

  • Yes! As an upgrade, you can choose from any Benjamin Moore or Sherwin Williams color. Painted bunk beds will be a 20% sheen which is a soft, low-lustre finish. We have found this to be the most durable and easier to wipe clean.

  • The base price of ICON Bunks metal accents (safety rails and ladders) are a beautiful blackened metal. We also offer an upgrade to have your metal powder coated in nickel or gold. That can be found under ICON Accessories.

Bunk Bed Safety FAQ’s

  • ICON Bunks are designed and built to meet or exceed all applicable U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and ASTM international bunk bed safety standards. Our designs are carefully engineered and tested to ensure proper guardrail height, ladder safety, spacing, and structural integrity—so you can feel confident in both safety and craftsmanship.

  • Yes. ICON Bunks are tested to comply with U.S. federal regulations for children’s products, including strict standards for lead content and harmful materials. All finishes and materials used are selected with safety, durability, and long-term use in mind.

  • Our top bunks feature full-length safety rails on all four sides that meet or exceed required height standards. To ensure the safety rail on the top bunk meets safety standards, please use a mattress that is 10” thick or less.

Ladders are designed for secure climbing with proper spacing, solid attachment points, and comfortable step depth. Each bunk is thoughtfully engineered to provide stability, ease of use, and peace of mind.

Shipping and Installation FAQ’s

  • Each bunk bed is carefully packaged by our team into a heavy duty wooden crate. For our Standard and Elevated collections, the crate is 86” x 24” x 24” and will weigh approximately 750lbs. Each bunk bed comes in it’s own crate. If you order stairs, those wooden crates are 73” x 40” x 25” and approximately 250lbs. We use LTL Freight carriers and they will deliver curbside. This means they will unload the crate for you on a liftgate, and use a pallet jack to bring the crates to your garage or door. They will not bring the crates inside your house.

**If you live up a windy mountain road or someplace where access is limited, please let us know if advance so we can coordinate properly. Additional LTL carrier fees may apply.

You will be provided with the freight carrier and tracking number when the bunk bed is shipped so that you can keep an eye on your shipment and reach out to the carrier if you need a status update.

  • The only tools required for assembly are a 10mm wrench, 4mm Allen Wrench and T15 Torx Screw Driver. These are all included. A rubber mallet (not included) would also be helpful for assembly.

  • You can estimate that it would take 2 adults about 2 hours to put an ICON Bunk together.

  • Because we ship our bunk beds in heavy duty wooden crates, damages are rare. However, in the instance that a part does arrive damaged, please take a picture of the damaged piece and part number and email that to info@iconbunks.com. Please put your ICON order number in the subject line. We will ship you a new part within 2 weeks.
